The Role
As a Senior Care Assistant, you will take a lead role on shift, ensuring care is delivered safely, effectively, and in line with expected standards.
Your responsibilities will include:
Leading and supporting the care team on shift
Maintaining high standards of person-centred care
Supporting residents with personal care and clinical needs
Assisting nurses with care delivery and escalation of concerns
Reviewing and checking documentation and care records
Supporting new staff and ensuring effective onboarding on shift
Acting as a point of contact for families and professionals when required
Performance Expectations (Important)
This is a leadership role, and high standards are essential.
You will be expected to:
Ensure care is delivered safely, consistently, and in line with best practice
Maintain accurate, timely, and complete care documentation
Monitor staff performance on shift and address issues promptly
Escalate concerns appropriately and without delay
Lead by example in attitude, professionalism, and work ethic
Support and maintain standards that meet regulatory expectations and inspection readiness
Support and guidance will always be provided — however, accountability is a key part of this role.
Shift Pattern
Day shift: 07:45 – 20:00
Night shift: 20:00 – 08:00
Fixed 2-week rolling rota
Alternate weekends required
Essential Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must have:
NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent)
Previous experience as a Senior Care Assistant or in a similar role
Strong understanding of safeguarding and care standards
Experience supervising or supporting staff on shift
Good communication and organisational skills
Confidence using digital care systems (or willingness to learn)
